Stamping Handmade Hugs

When you can't hug in person, send a Handmade Hug you created, with Stamps, Paper & Ink!

Archive for ‘May, 2017’

I looked at some pictures of sparrows on the internet, to get ideas about what colors to paint these birds. I’m not sure if that’s what these birds are or not, but art isn’t an exact science.  So the colors are inspired, not exact, and they were sure fun to water color!

The birds were done on watercolor paper, it allows you to play with the “paint” a little more, than if you used card stock. I used the new SU! Water Color Pencils. You can just color with them like any colored pencil…except the quality is superb. You get lots of color with very little effort.

You only have until the 31st of May to order the Best Birds Bundle at a discount. Be sure and use Hostess Code FE6A9QKN if you order before May 25th.

Thank you for checking out my blog!

I think the correct idiom is that everything is coming up roses, not daisies. I do love roses, I have 5 big rose bushes, 6 petite rose bushes and a small “tree” rose bush in my front yard and porch, and a couple large carpet rose bushes in my back yard. So, yes, I love roses! However, these daisy’s have stolen my heart…you will probably see a lot of them from me. I just love the two steps of these flower stamps. They are easy to use, super fun to stamp and create beautiful results!!
Soft Sky, Always Artichoke and Night of Navy with the new Delightful Daisy DSP,  available in June.
Wild Wasabi, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder and So Saffron inks are used her.
The sentiment is Copper Embossing Powder.

Wild Wasabi, Calypso Coral, So Saffron and Soft Suede Stampin’ Pads are used on this card. The daisies also have Gold Wink of Stella on the petals and the center of each flower. Thoughtful Banners is the sentiment and punch used to cut it.
One of my favorites of this bunch, I just adore the bee and the jar is always so cute. I used Berry Burst card stock and ink. Lemon Lime twist for the stems and leaves, Soft Sky water and Crumb Cake burlap.
These sparkly little gems in the center of these daisies, called Glitter Enamel Dots have taken Stampin’ Up! by surprise…based on survey they were not expected to do that well. Well, everyone LOVES them…they are already on back order until the end of July! I wish I had ordered three packs, not just one.
Unfortunately I can’t post a link to this adorable set yet because it’s not available to anyone but the Demonstrator’s right now…but very soon, June 1st you’ll be able to order this set or bundle, (it is bundled with a really cute daisy punch).

I don’t know about you, but I’m a note pad kind of person. I have to write things down or they escape my brain, often, never to return.  I have notepads and post it notes EVERY WHERE!! No kidding, I have them in my bathroom where I do my hair and makeup, in my night stand, in my office in several drawers, bins, baskets and shelves, I have them by the computer, in the computer desk drawer, in the roll top desk, on the fridge, beside the fridge, on a shelf near the fridge…oh boy, I may have too many…because I’m not even close to being done telling you where all I keep note pads. Besides my night stand, one of the most essential places to keep a note pad, is in the car. I use mine ALL the time. That’s what stop lights are for…writing grocery lists, to do lists, etc…short lists, there’s not much time.
This handy little note card holder has a built in pen holder, so it’s not only cute but super functional! I made this for my upline Wendy Cranford. She’s a busy lady with lots to do, a good candidate for needing a notepad set!

I used the Eastern Palace Suite Bundle, still available through the end of May. I also used the Decorative Label Punch, my go-to punch for quite a few years now, that I have to bid farewell to. Yes, I could still use it, but that wouldn’t be very nice of me to use it and my customers will think it’s available for purchase only to find that it is no longer being produced. Better to use the new stuff. The Dapper Denim Ribbon is also retiring.

You’ve Got This stamp set made it to the new Catalog/Idea Book!  I’m so glad because I definitely want to play with this set a little longer. It’s hard to see the Wink of Stella in this photo, both the gold and the clear, but in person it has a really nice shimmer.

The Thank You sentiment is from a retired set. The card stock is as well, Strawberry Slush. I think it’ll be pretty with the new In Colors, Powder Pink blooms and Tranquil Tide leaves…yep, that’s my next card I think. The back ground DSP is retiring at the end of May. I’m totally bummed about that, it’s such great paper, easy to make coordinating projects and beautiful too. The only DSP stacks left are in the 2015-2017 In Colors, which I just ordered!

We received this beautiful Easter card from our good friends, Brian and Kristine Compton. Kristine air brushed the dragon fly. Her first attempt, Gorgeous!! I love it! I love the sentiment, too. She made it with her new Cricut. The Detailed Dragonfly Thinlit is from Stampin’ Up!

For those of you interested in the Detailed Dragon Fly Bundle, there’s only a couple more weeks to get it for the reduced price! The price goes up with the new Catalog/Idea Book.

Obviously, I have some bugs to work out with the lighting and photos. There’s a weird wave-like shadow happening! Thank you for your patience  as I work out all the bugs of photography and blogging…it may take a long time.
These cards are altered from the Paper Pumpkin Instructions. I thought the embossed pattern this card came with looked sorta bee-hive-ish… So I added a couple bees from the Touches of Texture stamp set. I had to “fussy cut”…had to cut with paper snips, not a die cut…but not a big deal, totally worth the effort to pop those bees up!

I added flowers from the retiring Petite Petals stamp set and the Petite Petals Punch. The leaves were in the Paper Pumpkin Kit. The color for the bee hive comes from the new Watercolor Pencils.

I altered this card as well, I didn’t like the hard jewel-cut edges of the heart that came with the kit. I used the retired heart framelits to cut a smooth heart. The watercolor pencils are so fun to play with, they look pretty too!

The Paper Pumpkin monthly kit is a lot of fun to get, partly because it’s always a surprise as to what is in it and it’s fun to challenge myself to make it “my own” by creating something different from the instructions! There’s a tiny bit of rebel in me too. 🙂
Check out Paper Pumpkin on FaceBook, there’s a lot of ladies and gentlemen having a lot of fun with their Paper Pumpkin Kits every month. Subscribing to Paper Pumpkin is also a great excuse to give your friends and family little cards or treats here and there. There’s a link to Paper Pumpkin to the right if you are interested in subscribing.

This super-cute little umbrella is from the Weather Together Bundle. I really need to come up with some more adjectives, but “cute” is just so apt!  The ladies will be making this card, one among 6 cards available at our first monthly Card Buffet!
I would love to have a this color umbrella in waterproof material rather than card stock. It would brighten anybodies rainy day blues!
The card base is Soft Sky, the clouds Smokey Slate, the handle is Basic Gray and the umbrella is Peekaboo Peach card stock and Calypso Coral ink.

Yay! My lights came in! Love Amazon! Hopefully the lighting will help show the real color of the cards I post here, not the yellowish version. At some point I want to learn how to use an SLR camera, which I just found out means, Single Lens Reflex. Huh?…still really don’t know what SLR means… Anyway, my outdated 5c I-phone will have to do for now until I have some time to learn a little bit about photography.

So, this is my “photography studio”! It sits atop my 16 cube Ikea unit, perfect height for me to take photos.

Here’s the first card photo in my new “studio”. The color is much much better, perfect timing to introduce the new 2017-2019 In-Colors! The Daisy punch is new too! It’s part of a bundle with the Daisy Delight stamp set. Soo cute!!
After June 1st, I will provide the links to these items in my store. One of the advantages to purchasing the Demonstrator Kit is that we get to pre-order all of the products before the general public…not to mention starting with a 20% discount! I will have a be posting a page on my blog soon, telling you about the benefits of purchasing the Starter Kit soon.

Another Crazy for You card, I hope you like it. I love, love the color combos of these two cards. And yes, those leaves are the new Lemon Lime Twist…so pretty!! I mixed a little of the old, the stamp set, with the rest of the card elements coming from the new Eastern Palace Suites for the card below. I like the look, I’m a big fan of polka dots! Dapper Denim is definitely one of my favorite colors…only one more year with it. …I  just realized as I write that, some of you may not know how the colors work with SU!

We have four color collections, Neutrals, Regals, Subtles and Brights…self explanatory names…for the most part these colors stay pretty much the same from year to year. Each year SU! introduces  a collection of 5 new colors, we call them In Colors. We have them for 2 years. So, every year the In Color Collection we had for 2 years goes away, the other we keep for one more year and we’re introduced to another In Color Collection.

The card below is old and new too. The flowers are Sweet Sugarplum, (old) and Fresh Fig, (new). They make a really pretty color duo…just sayin’…

Color is what SU! is superior at, that and quality, among many other attributes. If you don’t have great colors, how can you have great creativity?

Monochromatic cards are a look I really like…love…  Soft Suede is a beautiful color. I think you could give this card to a man for his birthday, it’s not just for a woman. The Designer Series Paper Stacks make it simple to put together a beautiful project, with the four designs in every single color. Easy peasy!

All of the things used to make this card are retiring…punches, rhinestones, (already sold out 😦 before I could order more), DSP, Crazy About You stamp set and framelits…all going bye bye. Don’t miss out, if you want something, order soon. Products are getting sold out rapidly.

This card was one of the make and takes at our Retiring Products Open House. Which was fun, btw! I should have taken pictures to share with you. I will next time!

It is also one of the two card kits you will receive when you order $50 in merchandise. See Hostess Code below!
